Clean Yamuna Manch

The Yamuna Action Plan, Phase II (YAP II) will run from 2007 to 2010.  YAP II is designed on lessons learned from Phase I which ran from 1993 to 2003. Despite a decade of inputs levels of pollution in the river have increased, specially in the22 km stretch through Delhi.. The Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) capacity created by the Delhi Government remained under-utilised due to limitations in the collection system, STPs did not include effluent disinfection systems. As a result, untreated sewage continued to flow into the river.

YAP 1 did not adequately address non-point sources of pollution such as dairy farms, dhobi ghats, slaughter houses etc. YAP II builds on the work done in Phase I.

YAP II towns include Yamuna Nagar, Saharanpur, Karnal, Muzzafarnagar, Panipat, Sonepat, Rohtak, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Faridabad, Noida, Gurgaon, Vrindavan,Mathura, Agra and Etawah, using different innovative approaches and working together with a range of partners and stakeholders

Radio Programme Kinare-Kinare: The purpose is to raise awareness and concern amongst people living in Delhi and neighboring states by providing data and information on various factors affecting the quality of river Yamuna. The target group was general public, of all age groups residing in Delhi NCR and other states, where FM Rainbow reaches.
